Frequently Asked Questions
How does Snoobi collect information on visitors?
The information collecting process adopted by Snoobi is based on a JavaScript code string installed on the website. Whenever a visitor enters the website, his/her browser runs the code which sends information on the website being visited and the visitor’s browser to the Snoobi server. A cookie is stored on the visitor’s browser, which enables the system to ignore multiple clicks by the same visitor. If cookies are not used, multiple clicks by the same visitors are identified on the basis of IP addresses.
How do I gain access to Snoobi?
It is easy to start using Snoobi. Just register as a client and we will open a tracking account for your company. The instructions for installing the JavaScript code are e-mailed to your webmaster. Monitoring starts as soon as the script is installed. Read the installation instructions »

How does Snoobi's organisation identification work?
Snoobi uses cookies and IP addresses for visitor identification. Whenever a visitor enters the customer’s website, a cookie is stored in the visitor’s browser. This is how we are able to disregard multiple clicks by the same visitor. If cookies are not in use, Snoobi resorts to IP-based identification. In this case, a visitor is defined as the same if no more than 30 minutes elapse between page downloads. Read more about our privacy policy »
What is the difference between log-based and browser-based visitor tracking (page tagging)?
Log-based systems analyze data from server logs, whereas browser-based systems are based on a JavaScript or Java Applet which is installed on the website and stores the information on a remote server. Compared to log-based systems, browser-based systems are capable of acquiring remarkably more information on visitors and their browsers. A large number of pages are downloaded from a proxy server instead of a normal server, which is problematic for log-based systems, since server logs are unable to pick up information relating to proxy servers. As a result, incorrect log-based results on the number of visitors and page downloads are typically 10 – 40 % lower than the correct, browser-based measurement results. Furthermore, in log-based systems reports are typically updated once a day or once a week, whereas browser-based systems such as Snoobi are capable of real time reporting. Does Snoobi slow down page downloads?
No, Snoobi does not slow down page downloads, nor does it have any other effects on the functionality or appearance of web pages. Data collecting in connection with a page download usually takes only a few tenths of a second. The user does not notice it, because web pages contain various elements such as pictures, the downloading of which takes longer than this. Most of the time consumed is due to the slowness of the web. The Snoobi servers respond to 95 % of http requests in less than a hundredth of a second.
